The placebo effect in kids is real, just saying.
We have a situation in our house right now because one of the middle children has broken his arm.
Not hairline crack broken. Playground injury broken. So broken his hand was in the wrong place, several inches in the wrong place, with the bones hanging underneath in a small U.
This is because when he first fell on the arm and broke it, he didn’t realise it was broken and used it, the broken arm, to push himself up to sitting. So then it was really, very, very broken.
When a six year old breaks his arm to such a degree and has to go under general anaesthesia and comes out with a cast up to his shoulder, it is only natural that he is spoiled a bit. Special toys, extra attention, help doing all the things that a six year old might struggle with under the best of circumstances, let alone with one hand (ie. getting dressed, putting on shoes, wiping bum, etc).
It must be said that this six year old is handling (forgive me) it all with great aplom…
